Trained in classical music, Jono was brought up playing piano and composing music. At the age of 12, his family created a band focussing on celtic fusion music; Pogues, Cranberries, Corrs etc. He joined in by playing the drums. In 2005 he went to Victoria University in Wellington, and gained a music degree in composition. During this time, he spent many hours experimenting at the piano, developing a singing voice, and writing personal songs. In the past year, he has become heavily interested in alternative electronica; an area that he will pursue in a creative way at some point.
Currently, Jono spends his time writing, listening to and studying music.
Such beautiful piano work. I wish I understood the theory behind subtle passing chords, sevenths, ninths, and minors like this man does. It brings the melody line to life.
