Tony Galla was born to sing!
Starting his singing career in Buffalo N.Y., Tony was first discovered by nationally renowned disc jockey Joey Reynolds and recorded his first 45 hit single entitled
In Love (Swan Records). This was Tony’s initial exposure to national recognition. The song quickly climbed the Billboard charts and became a national cult hit. It remains so to this day even throughout the UK and Europe.
While fine tuning his craft at a young age Tony was heavily influenced by the sounds of great artists like B.B. King and Ray Charles. He then started to develop his own soulful bluesy sound and unique passionate style. He became the lead singer of the blues band, Raven, releasing their first album Live at the Inferno (Discovery). With the help of Jimi Hendrix, they landed a record contract with Columbia records and Clive Davis releasing the album Raven and the single Feeling Good. Performing live, Tony and Raven, toured extensively gaining worldwide attention opening for numerous well known acts such as: Joe Cocker, Led Zeppelin, Procol Harem, The Byrds, The Young Rascals, Blood Sweat and Tears, Three Dog Night, B.B.King, Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy. It was not uncommon to find Tony jamming into the wee hours of the night with Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin at local nightclubs in New York City. Tony Galla’s blues sound is traditional yet uniquely original and his voice is clearly identifiable. Over the years, Tony has crafted and shaped his guitar skills to compliment his heart felt style of singing that truly comes from the soul and reveals his emotional passion for the blues. After seeing Tony perform live, Jim Santella of the Buffalo, New York News wrote… “Galla was in superb voice, evoking the spirit of master blues singers from New Orleans “ Johnny Adonis to B.B. King.” Tony’s blues CD A.S.A.P., recorded for Provogue Records and distributed in Europe, is a collection of original songs that will surely satisfy your taste for the blues.
Throughout his lengthy career however Tony has developed into a multi faceted entertainer-singer.
A move to the Los Angeles area in 1986 has provided a wide variety of musical performance opportunities. A common week end gig might be singing for the 2006 SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium, singing at Brooke Shields wedding,
playing a party at the home of Danny DeVito or Arnold Schwarzenegger, performing with the Long Beach Civic Concert Orchestra, performing in Las Vegas or providing music for a major motion picture.
Not forgetting his Italian heritage, Tony has also recorded a collection of his favorite Italian songs and arias. Tony’s appreciation and love for his Italian culture have inspired this CD and motivated this labor of love entitled Dal Mio Coure a Te (From My Heart to You). There is also a 2nd Italian CD entitled An Evening In Italy which has brought him much attention and has created a demand for bookings across the US from the yearly Italian Festival in Monterey California to two of the largest Italian Festivals in the country at Milwaukee Wisconsin and Buffalo NY.
A THIRD ITALIAN CD IS SOON TO BE RELEASED IN JULY OF 2006.
Tony has also gained world wide exposure through several different types of performances which include Film and Television credits, such as: The X Files, The L Word Showtime, La Dolce Vita the Hallmark Channel Showtime,
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (Cybil Shepherd), Man On the Moon (Universal), My Blue Heaven (Warner Bros.), Mambo Kings (Desilu Prod.), Naked Gun 1 (Paramount), Ricochet (Paramount), Seventh Heaven (Fox) and China Beach (Warner Bros.). In addition, Tony’s voice can be heard on many national and international TV commercials including Dunkin Doughnuts, California Cheese “It’s the Cheese”, Macaroni Grill, Nissan Japan, California Gas Company and others. He has always been a favorite top performer at the world-renowned Monterey Blues Festival and Italian Festival and has participated in the Taipei Blues Festival and Bose European Tour.
It is very rare to find a vocalist who has mastered such diverse styles of singing and whether it’s blues, Italian, or big band, Tony’s passion and gift is always revealed in his incredible delivery of a song.
Great voice. It is so nice to hear someone simply deliver the song. No vocal gymnastics here...just clear beautiful singing. Nice work!
