Niall McGuinness, leader of the New World Jazz Project, has finally released his travel-inspired debut album, "Limpopo", after over 35 years of professional dues-paying. Featured on saxophones, flute and percussion, Niall has performed from New York City to South America, and his many various life experiences are deeply instilled in the breadth and depth of his music. Cutting his teeth in the vibrant and eclectic Miami music scene, the resulting Afro-Latin influences are evident in Niall's varied compositions, as is his love of jazz and percussion.
With a knowledge that "less is more", Niall and his New World Jazz Project create simple yet meaningful melodies that are both thoughtful and communicative. The music of New World Jazz Project has no contrived target audience, nor is it specific to any genre. This artist is able to convey feelings whose impact has given birth to song, and he invites you to imbibe and enjoy in it.
Niall currently resides in South Lake Tahoe with his wife, teaching 2nd grade and performing in the Reno/Tahoe area.
I love the way this song sets up with the bass line, that sounds like it's in 4/4 swing, until the rhythm kicks in with a beautiful 3 against that 4. Nice surprise for my ears. I loved all of your posted tunes. A very melodic and enjoyable listen.
