Classification of a band like the Gypsy West should be conducted with the utmost sensitivity. The Gypsy West considers themselves to sound like themselves. The rest is your perception.
Their debut album, Dustfires should be listened to from start to finish to get the full scope. From a production standpoint, the record is unique in its timbres and mixing. From an artistic standpoint, Dustfires is a bold, original and uncompromising debut revealing a band fearlessly themselves. They also recorded a unique cover of “All Along the Watchtower” for the Next Paradigm Project, available on Amazon.com and are part of the All Asia All Hallow’s Eve Bash live album expected to be out by February 2009.
Above all things, the Gypsy West IS a LIVE band. Alive with a spirit rarely found in music these days, their shows are bombastic, energetic, full of surprises and retain a vitality truly their own. They have recently begun playing with the violinist Liz "Warcry" Anaya at many of their shows adding a great new aspect and avenue for the band’s sound.
