Ross MacLachlan
Hometown: Gananoque, Canada
Ross MacLachlan has been playing and composing blues, boogie and ragtime piano for many years, including 20 years as the house pianist at the Kingston Holiday Inn. "Not Just Ragtime" brings together six of Ross’ original rags and boogies combined with other favourites. Some of Kingston’s finest musicians contributed their talents to the album.
When Ross first became interested in ragtime, he studied under Toronto artists Bob Fenton and John Arpin. Other ragtime performers Ross likes are William Bolcom, Roger Shields and James Levine. For Boogie it's Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, Meade Lux Lewis, Errol Garner, Dr. John and Michael Kaeshammer.
This album will introduce a once popular style of music that you may be unfamiliar with. Tell your friends, maybe this music will have a renaissance!
