The Morrow is a Brooklyn based band consisting of Daniel Morrow (singer/songwriter), Alex Sherba (guitarist), Jonathan Vergara (drummer) and Gabby Ess (vocals, bass, piano and anything else you can think of!) The band members enjoy switching instruments and genres equally and it is this versatility and ingenuity that audiences in New York have been embracing and which sets them apart from the current crop of bands coming out of Brooklyn.
While fans point to the British influences in the songwriting of London born Daniel Morrow, their sound pulls influences from a diverse array of artists; a quirky guitar style fusing elements of Pavement, Jeff Beck and Lightnin Hopkins provide a lightness alongside the earnest but often playful lyrics and melodies reminiscent of Elliot Smith and Morrissey.
It is these catchy tunes and complex layers that are attracting a growing fan-base on the East Coast of the USA. The Morrow are playing regular shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan and are gaining airplay in Boston and Rhode Island thanks to their regular visits to the north. With a 4-song debut EP released at the end of 2013 and a management company now behind them, you can expect to hear a lot more from The Morrow in the coming months, wherever you are!
