Choirs and Music Lessons as a kid. Then a Bass player/singer in Bands earlier in life, doing cover songs as a hobby/part time job. I was out of music for 15 or 20 years in other career interests except for plugging my 68 Precision in once in a while and playing along with a CD or the Radio. A couple of years ago, I was asked by a singer/songwriter friend to write and play some bass lines and sing some harmony on a demo CD he was making. I have tried all my life to write songs and was never able to. I couldn't write a poem past "roses are red". Melodies and tunes were a no show. Now, all of a sudden, in my mid-50s, I can't seem to stop writing them. 25 plus last year. I get woke up in the middle of the night with them in my head. I've had to start sleeping with a digital recorder next to my bed and a note book. I am a Song Writer and not a performer or singer. I can play Rythym guitar and understand chord progressions decent enough to write a song. The Bass is obviously my favorite insturment. The Mandolin is just something I got recently and have been messing around with. I can sing and harmonize good enough not to make your "ears bleed". I don't think I have a style. I'm just writing what ever comes into my head.
