Gianna Joy is a singer-songwriter whose passion for music ignited at a young age. Like many people in the music industry, she started out on her church youth group’s worship team – first singing at the age of 12, then playing keyboard at 14. However, she’s set apart by the legacy her mother, Cindy, left with her. The victim of a stroke in 2002, Cindy was no longer able to play the piano as beautifully as she once could. In a whirlwind of heartbreak, peace and strength, Gianna Joy carried on the music and talent that her mother began. At 15, inspiration hit and Gianna Joy began writing songs and the accompanying music – never planning on sharing the lyrics that were a private and unwavering connection to her deepest thoughts, desires and questions. However, the encouragement of those closest to her led her to start recording her songs a few years later. In 2009, she became a finalist in KAMB’s annual Christian Artist Search, which allowed her to expand her reach as her song “For the Better” became part of the radio station’s playlist. A frequent musical guest of local coffee shops and eateries, Gianna Joy’s eclectic vocals weave their way through the audience. Lines like "You took what was broken and barely beating and made it come alive again" boast a lyrical depth that resonates with her fans in a way that mainstream music rarely does. In her 2010 EP “There is Hope,” she takes five of her songs to new heights with a full band to round out the sound. From upbeat melodies to soft-spoken ballads, her music offers a bubbling mixture of renewed faith and deep-rooted talent that leaves the audience eager to hear more.
