Both hailing from small Scottish towns in Canada, Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac, better known as Madison Violet, came to be over a decade ago, after a chance meeting at The Green Room in Toronto, Ontario. Since that fateful encounter, the pair has worked at creating a musical sound all their own; one that has roots in their parents’ vintage folk and country record collections, and branches off into breakthrough bluegrass, alt-country and modern folk practicalities.
No Fool For Trying is Madison Violet’s latest studio album, and has been received around the world as the duo’s most refreshingly honest and stunning collection of music to date. It has won numerous accolades, including a 2010 Juno nomination, a 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Vocal Group Album of the Year, multiple East Coast Music Award nominations and a 2009 Critic’s Choice award from Country Music People’s Magazine. No Fool for Trying includes songs that have been featured in the notorious music magazine MOJO’s Top 10 Playlist and have earned the duo the Grand Prize in the 2010 John Lennon Song Writing Contest. Madison Violet’s first 2 studio albums, Worry the Jury and Caravan, were recorded in the UK with notable producer John Reynolds (Sinead O'Connor, U2, Damien Dempsey) and were also critically acclaimed, garnering the pair several ECMA and CFMA nominations. No Fool for Trying is a homegrown collection, recorded in Canada with producer Les Cooper at the helm. Brenley and Lisa have made of point of touring each of their albums around the world and they have been welcomed with open arms by fans in the UK, the US, Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean.
