Back To The Ocean is a singer/songwriter. Her real name is Agnieszka Olszewska–Kaczmarek.
Agnieszka was brought up in Lublin, Poland, where she began her musical career, while studying psychology. At that time she founded her first rock band Inez (then XRDS). In 2000, Agnieszka moved to Warsaw and together with 3 other musicians founded the rock band Humbert Humbert. The band acheived recognition as very expressive and scenic. Their reputatuion was built up quickly through concerts in Warsavian clubs, Polish music contests, media coverage from popular channels like TV4 and TVP 1, as well as supporting such Polish rock stars as Bohema, O.N.A. or the legendary Perfect.
After a few years leading the rock band, Agnieszka left Humbert Humbert and started her solo career as Back To The Ocean focusing on the international market. She enlisted the talented and experienced musicians Rafal Smolinski and Andrzej Rejman to work on smooth rock songs influenced by Ben Harper, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Sade.
Success came quickly. Her outstanding voice and songwriting ability brought her song "Yes, You Are The Sun" to "Runner Up" status in the March and May round of the songwriting contest "Song of the Year". Thanks to this song, she has been noticed by American Quickstar Production who placed the song on their "Rise Up, vol. 3" compilation, presenting the most interesting world debuts.
Throughout 2009/2010, Back To The Ocean was gigging in local clubs in the capital, performing on guitar together with the best Polish drummer and percussionalist Joanna “Fela” Felczak. This female tandem has been presenting the “acoustic face” of Back To The Ocean and has quickly aquired a group of loyal fans. Emotional performances, gorgeous music with moving lyrics and easy contact with audience have become their trademark.
