Growing up in Ottawa, Canada, Angela Marie spent countless hours singing in front of her mirror, hair brush in hand, emulating her idols, Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes and the Spice Girls. Like many girls her age, she dreamed of performing for thousands of adoring fans on the big stage. She soon found herself singing to anyone who would take the time to listen. Numerous positive reactions gave Angela the courage to take her first steps on stage and an entertainer was born. Angela has since performed at talent shows, fundraisers, sporting events, church functions, festivals and various clubs. She also experienced much success in many singing competitions regionally and nationally, including Canadian Idol 2008.
Her unique ability to capture the meaning and emotion of a song allows audiences to feel a part of each and every performance. She now prefers to express these same emotions through her own songs. “Music has always been my therapy. I have always used other’s lyrics and melodies to get me through any high or low in my life. What I love about country music is that the lyrics and stories make the song. You can find a song about someone going through the same thing you are and it always seems to make things easier. Hearing that one of my own songs has been able to do the same for someone else is the greatest compliment – and nothing beats seeing people dance and sing along to your own songs.”
Angela feels so blessed to have had the opportunity to recently record her first EP in her favorite city and future home, Nashville, Tennesse. She is extremely proud of the final product and hopes others enjoy it as well. She will continue writing and recording in an effort to complete her first full-length album.
Her debut single, As Good As It Gets, from her EP - available on iTunes - recently reached number 18 on the PowerSource Country top 75 Charts and has been played in over 30 states in the US.
I love the melodies! The song is very catchy and relatable. Good job! You're a very creative song writer.
