Hailing from the Olympic Peninsula, Alice Hastings began songwriting when she was six years old.
"It was always something I was drawn to for whatever reason. I would pass by the farms in my hometown and start singing about the cows."
?Though her poems would win poetry competitions, it was not until she was much older that she began to share her musical creations with the world. It began when she went to study in Greece. At the end of her semester, there was a talent show. She played some songs she wrote, and her professors and classmates insisted she pursue her music career.
Now, Alice lives in Olympia and continues to write songs as she begins her music career. Her songs are light and elegant, tugging at the heartstrings and reminding listeners to live in the moment and stay happy. Some compare her style to Ingrid Michaelson, but she says she gets a lot of her inspiration from Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald.
