OFFBEAT MOTIF has released their first album on April 17th 2015. We are literally amped up for the future and are ready to rock wherever the path may lead. So nice to have a record out we can stand proudly behind.
Our song Yo-yo is featured in the Under the Radar Magazine's 2015 spring edition as part of the digital music sampler. The sampler features Death Cab for Cutie, Tame Impala, Sufjan Stevens, Will Butler, and Surfer Blood, and its an honor to be on the mix with them! Truly. Offbeat Motif EP has been spun on 94.1 FM HJY's Soundcheck program after its release. The band has an interview at WEMF radio in Cambridge MA coming up on May 5th 2015. Next on the agenda is to begin recording our new full length album, featuring 12 brand new songs. We boldly aim to record the whole thing at John Hanson's house studio, and release it in September 2015.
OM does not follow the path laid out, makes creative originals, and plays what they want to play, how they want to play it. The band provides what a fan has called ballistic rock. With a solid core of a die-hard fan base, and going fan base of offbeat rockers, their catchy, gritty, and energetic songs, have never failed to entertain an audience.
Singer and guitarist John Hanson has been part of the open mic scene since age 15, and began hosting local open mic's in 2011. During this time John began forming a group with long-time friends. In May of 2012 OFFBEAT MOTIF was officially born, but it would takes some time before the mix of members was finalized. After gigging at local pubs as a cover band for two and a half years, the band has shifted to an all original focus, and the core group of members is now: John Hanson (vocals and guitar), Connor Quigley (lead guitar, vocals), Ricky Giorgio (drums), and Matthew 'Gravy' Giorgio (bass, vocals). Common guests and past musicians of the group, to whom we owe much, are: Mike Mullen (drums, one of the founders), Colon Kirwin (bass, one of our founders), Steve Cerrata (Lead guitar) and Jim Macguire (keys, sax). The group's newest member, Ricky Giorgio comes with loads of experience from playing with his previous outfit, Auburn, including 14 tours of North America and Europe.
Some Key Venues OFFBEAT MOTIF has played are: Middle East in Cambridge, Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, Copperfield's in Boston, The Spot in Providence, Angry Hamís in Framingham MA, The Mad Raven in Waltham MA, Costelloís in Boston MA.
The group is looking forward to expanding their live shows into the areas of Worcester, Cambridge, Providence RI and Portsmouth New Hampshire. We plan to tour the East Coast in 2015 and have set a goal to play the Warped Tour in Foxboro next summer.
