“There are moments in our lives when we find ourselves at a crossroad, afraid, confused, without a roadmap. The choices we make in those moments can define the rest of our days. Of course when faced with the unknown, most of us prefer to turn around and go back.” - Lucas Scott
The story of Crossroad Y band began in early 2013 in a stuffy Sydney CBD office where the paths of three musicians crossed. Neither of them had a roadmap to follow, but they didn’t turn back.
Joanna (vocals), John (guitars) and Fabian (vocals and piano) come from various musical backgrounds drawing influence from a number of different genres. When they started sharing their ideas for songs, they noticed their styles, although diverse, had some common ground and they wanted to achieve a sound that is fresh and unique. Hence the name Crossroad Y, coming from different directions and meeting in the middle. Their sound is middle-of-the-road pop, folk and soft rock.
The very first product of their musical collaboration is Funny Little Things, which was released in February 2014. The release was supported by an introductory video clip, which can be viewed on YouTube. The song has been awarded a Semi Finalist placement in the International Song of The Year Competition 2014. It's a huge honour as the contest is judged by the likes of Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Steven Tyler and Phil Collins and placement in the semi final means that Crossroad Y were in the top 1% of submissions and made it to the top 10 in the pop category. The video clip for Funny Little Things was awarded Semi-Finalist award in the UK Songwriting Contest 2014 as well as commendment awards in several categories.
In a short time they have started to grow their fan base and have since released their second single Bringing it Back to Me, which was also commended for good songwriting in the UK Songwriting Contest 2014 in Pop category.
Crossroad Y are currently working on their first EP to be released in 2015 where listeners can expect stories to captivate, spark emotion and get audiences hooked with their authenticity and catchy melodies.
