Alex Shenton is the frontman and songwriter for the Saskatoon based rock band Bastard Poetry. Born and raised in rural Pincher Creek (Alberta), Alex was always a prolific poet who found himself frequently lost in music. Working as a concrete finisher to pay bills, he spent several years chiselling poetry into acoustic songs, as he also cut his teeth in metal, rock, and blues as a bassist. When he finally had the confidence he sought out a group to lead, using his poetry as a foundation for a full band to build upon.
Bastard Poetry is a high-energy acoustic based rock band that has been steadily carving a name for themselves across western Canada. Their goal is simple; give people a beat to move their feet to, melody to wash the dust of everyday life away, and raw poetry to feel feelings to. Each show we play is played like it could be our last.
