The Comeback Kid!
At the tender age of 14, Chilliwack-born Mister Blake was an entrepreneurially-minded high school student who formed his own record label and started recording and releasing his original songs. Discovered at a talent show in Richmond, he stirred a lot of local interest and soon caught the attention of some American record companies. This led him to recording a version of I Only Want To Be With You, a song made popular in the UK by Dusty Springfield, which instantly became a sizeable hit for him in North America.
For reasons beyond his control, his promising career came to an abrupt end. Decades laterafter a long hiatus from musicMister Blake was encouraged by friends to get back into doing the thing he loved more than anything, and he is once again actively writing, recording and performing. Mister Blake regularly performs at church events, charity fundraising events and pop concerts.
His latest just-released CD is a labour of love entitled Blue Rain and features some of Vancouvers finest musicians and singers.
Mister Blake is already working hard on his next album, tentatively titled ‘Superstars’, which he hopes to release in 2011.
