Bio

A lifelong musician, Carrie Hamby moved to Florida from the Midwest at age 14 and almost instantly switched allegiances from classical piano to bluegrass strings. It was more fun to play with other people. Her instruments now include guitar, mandolin, fiddle, accordion, upright bass, ukelele, and, of course, piano. Currently living in Tallahassee, she has been composing songs and instrumentals for the past 13 or so years, bending local ears to her original tunes and taking the ones that pass muster out on the road. A 2005 solo road trip to Seattle and back decided her against the full-time solo career. In 2006 she merged with a new band, The Mayhaws, and now plays bass, sings and co-writes music with the other Mayhaws as a full-time gig. With her former band Carrie produced two full-length recordings – “Stand Up Eight” (2003) and “The Cosmic Reel” (2006), both available through the singingbiscuit.com site and CDBaby. The Mayhaws first recording, “Sharla June” (2006), is available at themayhaws.com and CDBaby.
