After the release of the single ?Wrong? with R&B artist ieuan in 2015, Dowhan released his first independent album in the Fall of 2017 after playing local shows and at open mics in the Bay Area (Up the Creek Records, The Monkey House, Redwood City Coffee House). He has shared the stage with acts including Mike Errico, and Bay Area natives Half Mad and Busy Lighthouse.
Only the Moon (2018) was fully funded on Kickstarter and released in 2018. With songs about love from afar and cluelessness in a coming of age, it seamlessly weaves genres, ranging from violin-driven folk to slow acoustic ballads. ?Only the Moon connects with us all as listeners because we each have our own coming of age story,? said Divide and Conquer Music. Dowhan cites Jason Mraz?s lyricism along with Ed Sheeran?s rhythmic guitar and melodic hooks as influences. Only The Moon was recorded independently and produced by Dowhan?s peers in Oberlin Conservatory, giving the record a raw and authentic sound.
Currently, he is working on a folk EP featuring his string quartet South Professor.
