With soaring vocals and a collection of quality songs under his belt, Brisbane based troubadour Dan Acfield has returned to grace the stage once more as a soloist. Having spent the past two years as the front man for the Indie Pop-Rock trio Dear April, Dan is inspired by the prospect of performing his folk infused pop-rock tunes under his solo name once more.
As the sole songwriter of Dear April, he will still be sharing songs such as Red, Yellow and Blue, which recently received highly commended in the rock category in QSong 2010, and has also been acclaimed by Triple Js Alex Dyson as one excellent tune, with really great lyrics. Dan also draws upon experience through touring, as well as performing at prominent Brisbane venues with acts such as Hungry Kids of Hungary and Diana Anaid to deliver an engaging live show.
Music was always the logical choice for Dan, having written his first song at the age of 9 and with a Grandfather that played bass guitar for artists such as Cat Stevens and Kamahl. After studying music at Uni, Dan spent around 2 years performing solo and with the Dan Acfield Band, which eventually morphed into Dear April. Dan released 2 EPs of his music under the banner of Dear April, the latter of which received airplay at multiple radio stations along the East Coast of Australia.
Keep an eye out for Dan Acfield at venues in and around Brisbane. He also plans to visit Sydney and Melbourne before the year is out and has commenced working on his debut full-length solo album, due to be released in early 2011.
