Greg Baker is a recovering classic-ohalic guitarist now most at home with electric and acoustic guitar genre bending musical transgressions. His three-step program includes writing, performing, and recording with many types of guitars. As a solo guitarist, his recordings include Scars, Wounds, and Lacerations – The Guitar Music of Gene Pritsker (2008) and Latin American Guitar Music (2002). Greg Baker plays guitar in Gene Pritskers eccentric band Sound Liberation and appears on ‘Open Up Your Ears and Get Some’ and the VRE Suite recordings.
In New York City, he has performed in Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, live on WNYC radio, and Le Poisson Rouge. He has worked with and given NY premieres of music by many composers that include Gene Pritsker, Arthur Kampela, and Thea Musgrave. Greg Baker won Artists’ Internationals Young Artist Auditions Chamber Music Award in 1994. He studied guitar with Carlos Barbosa-Lima at the Manhattan School of Music.
