There’s only so many times you can read Jean-Paul Sartre before you start getting…. sick.
The Television Of Cruelty’s chief vocalist and songwriter, Ian Williams, has been banging out songs for years. He doesn’t often write love songs because he thinks we probably already have enough. Years ago, a music agent advised him to avoid politics and expletives in his songs. Whoops.
The Television Of Cruelty’s first album, “Season 2”, has been described as “some of the most English music on the planet”. We think this means all the songs are miserable. Second album “lower england” has been described as “superbly entertaining, stunningly crafted, sensitively performed – exquisite, breathtaking and just so bl**dy refreshing!!”
The band’s newest album, “Dead Sea Shanties”, will be available in the autumn of 2008.
