I’m a singer/songwriter, and a composer who also plays guitar, harmonica and piano. I have written songs that tell a story (“Spring Has Gone” and “Waiting for the No.12”) and composed instrumental music (“Journey to the Black Madonna” and the “3rd Journey”). As a life-long fan of music and film I have always felt that music was one of the best ways of communicating ideas and emotions. Even before I started writing songs I thought that it was something I wanted to do. In my teenage years I developed a strong appreciation for Folk and Rock music beginning with The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and The Rolling Stones. Later I became interested in the more eclectic groups of the late-70s and early 80s such as the Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, The Smiths and R.E.M.
I had always enjoyed classical music as a child, but in my college years at SUNY Purchase, I became deeply affected by Classical and Jazz – particularly the music of J.S. Bach, Mozart, Gabriel Faure and artists like Dave Brubeck and Louie Armstrong. After all is said and done, good music whether it be Classical, Jazz or Rock is one of the things that makes life worth living and in many ways, tells us something about the story of our lives. I hope that in some way, I can contribute to that story through my music.
