Circle of One

Lyrics

The paddle out was at sunrise, the third day of May
To celebrate your memory, in the old surfer’s way

A floating circle of friends, and stories they told
A happy remembrance, but no you there to hold

There were cheers to you, and clapping of hands
But no you there, with which to make plans

Flowers and leis were thrown in the air
Know I’ll always remember you, l’ll always care

Petals of your flowers were scattered on the waves
If God were only more generous in the ones that He saves

The paddle out over, boards point to the sky
All our friends paddle back, wave their final good byes

Now they?re all gone, and it’s a circle of one
I’m alone without hope, for without you there’s none

Where are you now? Why’d you leave me behind?
If only this once you could send me a sign

But the ocean is still, as I Iook all around
Nothing is there, no sign of you to be found

Then my board suddenly rose, gently cresting a swell
And then I couldn’t hold back my tears as they fell

Alone on the water, though a circle of one
Now that I know you are with me, I can go on

Alone on the water, though a circle of one
Now that I know you are with me, I can go on
