Flora’s Golden Curls

Verse
I was five or six or seven;
Flora was a year older than I.
Her brother was my best buddy.
He wasn’t there that day; I don’t know why.

We were in the warm, cozy playroom
On a cold winter’s day.
The sun shone in the window
And helped keep the cold at bay.

We were drawn to the sunlight;
That’s where we settled to play.
I remember the sun shinning on her hair!
I remember it to this day!

Chorus
Golden curls in the sunshine!
Took my breath away!
It was like a glorious halo!
And it broke my heart in a way!
Golden curls in the sunshine!
I got lost in the golden glow!
I learned some things about beauty
And some things I wasn’t ready to know!
Yeah, I learned some things about beauty
And some things I wasn’t ready to know!

Verse
I moved closer and closer to Flora
I wanted to feel her hair!
In truth, I was too, too bashful
To touch her anywhere!

Flora sensed my presence
My face was almost in her hair.
She whipped around and looked at me-
It gave me quite a scare!
She said, “What are you doing?,”
With a smile and a funny stare.
I stammered and said, “Oh! Nothing!”
And we left it right there!

Chorus to the end
