Here With You

Here With You

Another cup of coffee, another cigarette
I’ll sit here for hours that haven’t come yet
And I’ll wait for you here, to come home from your day
Then I’ll get myself dressed to work for my pay

Then you take my hand
Lead me into your arms
Where the world falls away
Keep my demons at bay

And the days turn to weeks
And the weeks turn to years
And I say to myself
How the hell did we get here?
So this train rumbles on
And there’s no stop in view
And there’s no place I’d rather be
Here with you

So I put on my work clothes and head for the door
The light’s in your eyes like every time before
Just a few minutes left until I leave you behind
Alone with your thoughts as you try to unwind

And they’re all rushing home
To the ones they love
Darkness creeping in
Cannot dim the love that we’re in

In time we’ll be
Safely hidden away
We’ll find our sanctuary
