Late Summertime

Lyrics
The way the sun is in the sky
Crickets humming in time
You see the leaves begin to die
We’re in late summertime
The season reaps what we have sown
The earth readies for the cold
Autumn often comes to mind
In this late summertime
Daylight slowly shortens now
Almost half the year is done
And on this perfect day I find
I’m lost within late summertime
Shadows cast a longer view
Cooler nights are welcome too
Flowers start to bide their time
They know it’s late summertime
A hint of fall is in the air
Winter’s hiding still time to spare
Spring just seems so far behind
Cause it’s late summertime
Daylight slowly shortens now
Almost half the year is done
And on this perfect day I find
I’m lost within late summertime
