Lyrics

My Old Man

Rain is leaving my world today.
And I’m so low.
I’m only worrying my dear baby.
Old truth still hurts me so.

I watched that man for a long, long time.
Like an old house that is crumbling away.
Yeah I’ve been a witness to his crazy ways,
my heart could never understand.

So I watched him for a long time.
He’s too stubborn to be told.
Well I guess he lost something to hold on to
and ever since that he’s out of reach.

All my friends know by now, this is nothing new.
Well but now slowly these dark wheels are rolling in.
And isn’t it sad to watch him
suffer, suffer like this.

My old man is going down.
Really down to the ground.
He drinks too much to reach his very soul
and too little to forget that he has one.

Well I’m not the one to save him.
Don’t know if someone ever could.
I’m not the one to save him.
I don’t know if anybody ever should.
Oh but I pray that good old something
comes back, takes care and gives him light
through his darkest night.

Uh now you’re going down.
Forever down to the ground.
It’s been a long time to watch you falling, falling, down.
My old man is going down.
Forever down to the ground.
It’s been a sad thing to watch you fall
looks like finally
something caught you up, caught you up,
caught you up,
something.
