Safe and Open

Lyrics
pain in my head
and cold rain on my skin
I don’t want to leave California
and I’m thinking about what you said
anyways, I smile so much more
with the sun as a permanent décor
in a southern land,
you hold my hand
safe and open have never been me
and December made that so easy
with the memories, and the families I’ve made,
with so much left and so much to learn
it seems so likely that I’ll burn
before the end
if I could just breathe
there aren’t any angels here
and I trust what I can see
and all the things that good people do
so I trust you
shut up and jump in my car
so I can get as far away
as it takes to escape
immobility
safe and open have never been me
and December made that so easy
with the memories and the families I’ve made
so much left and so much to learn
it seems so likely that I’ll burn
before the end
if I could just breathe
I’m so much better at listening
when I open my mouth its frustrating
to mumble under your gaze
I’ll close my eyes so you can run away,
when I open them up, I’m surprised you stayed
before the end, you’ll believe me
that I love you dearly
