Something Left for You
I have loved the wild places:
The mountains and the sea
In the prairie’s endless spaces
I’ve seen the face of Eternity
Staring back at me
Now in this Land of Plenty
There’s still plenty left to do
But when I see those big trees falling
I wonder, when we’re through,
If there’ll be something left for you.
I’ve heard some say it’s hopeless
I don’t think that’s true
We just need to learn to cope with less
And maybe someday, when we’re through,
There’ll be something left for you.
I hope the wolf runs wild
I hope the sky’s still blue
When I leave this world, dear child,
I hope there’s something left for you.
