Sunsets
Written by: Phillip Coomer
Sunsets on fire, the night is a coming
Like a tide across the great range
Behind the blue darkness, storm clouds painted
With a silver stroke of light
I tip my hat down, and I think about you
Wishin you were here tonight
And no I can’t help how my heart sings about you
No more than I could jump o’r the moon
The birds and the trees sing about you
Know I’ll be coming home soon
Down to the river, she’s dry nearly gone now
The land is dusty & dry
But up on the mountain, the coyotes are howlin
At the break of a brand new night
In camp dogs are barkin, at the coyotes howlin
But they don’t go too far from the light.
And no I can’t help how my heart sings abou you
No more than I could jump o’r the moon
The birds and the trees sing about you
Know I’ll be coming home soon
There’s days that are gone now I dearly miss them
I won’t trade tonight for those days.
Bed roll is for sleeping on the promise of tomorrow
Takes all the pain of yesterday
I’m just a blink in the eye of all time
It don’t matter much what I say
And no I can’t help how my heart sings about you
No more than I could jump o’r the moon
The birds and the trees sing about you
Know I’ll be coming home soon
The birds an the trees sing about you
Ya know I’ll be coming home soon
I’ll be coming home soon
