Tequila, Salt and Lime
She was lost when he found her all alone at the bar
He rescued her from loneliness, he was her shining star
She didn’t want to rush in, but she longed to know that touch
She felt a spark of passion, she just didn’t know how much
She thought that he could love her, maybe for all time
She toasted their new friendship with a shot of tequila, salt and lime
He would spend the nights with her, but in the morning he’d be gone
She just held him tighter and wondered what was going on
When his phone started ringing in the still of the night
The caller would just hang up, she knew something wasn’t right
She thought that he could love her, maybe for all time
She bought the memories back with a shot of tequila, salt and lime
His mystery still lingers on
Her lust for love has come and gone
He was gone when she woke up, it’s been one year to the day
The note left on his pillow revealed the words he couldn’t say
It said, “I never really gave up on the life I left behind
I feel I need to go back and give it one more try”
She thought that he could love her, maybe for all time
She fought back the tears with a shot of tequila, salt and lime
Tequila, salt and lime
