The Hunt

Lyrics

I’ve been running through the woods, so far away from home,
Ahead the trees are glowing, ice and moonlit bone.
Hounds are coming after me, gonna chew off my face,
I’m so tired of trying to escape.

So I run to the shadow and into the wood,
I don’t know if it’ll do any good,
They’re gonna catch me if I fall,
Ain’t got nothin’ here at all
To shelter me.

I remember when it started,
They were marching in the street,
Wielding swords and arrows,
And a fearful yellow streak.
Somebody said something that the other didn’t like,
In the end it made no difference who was wrong or who was right.

And they went charging into battle with The Misunderstood,
Was like fighting with a shadow in the middle of the wood,
And when I heard the footsteps, oh I dare not make a sound,
But they picked up on my scent and ran me out of town…

They’re hunting me down
I don’t make a sound
They’re hunting me down

Once upon a time, in a land that’s far away,
I had me a lover who I sculpted out of clay.
Every single curve, and every labored breath,
Melted back into my soul as he held me to his breast.

And I think about our children,
Who never have been born,
Protected from the sorrow in their hearts from taking form,
Now I hear the hounds approaching,
My time is running out,
As they sound out to the hunters and I know that I’ve been found…

They’re hunting me down
I don’t make a sound
Now they’re hunting me down

Ooooooh I’m going down
They’re hunting me down
I don’t make a sound
They’re hunting me down
They’re hunting me down
They’re hunting me down
I didn’t make a sound
They hunted me down
